"This is a beautiful property with wonderful, kind and attentive hosts; our family of 4 was very comfortable. They had all of the amenities that we needed and are perfectly located just steps from the beach and restaurants. It was a wonderful New Year's vacation!"

I booked this property in Sept. for $3,249 through Booking.com, as it was listed on multiple platforms and Booking.com offered the lowest rate. I received a confirmed reservation through the Booking.com platform. Shortly thereafter, I was contacted by the host via WhatsApp and informed that the property had been “double booked” and that I needed to contact Booking.com to cancel the reservation. I was hesitant as I was concerned about losing recourse if I initiated the cancellation myself. I therefore contacted Booking.com directly to explain the situation. They handled the cancellation and explained their policy: if a confirmed reservation is canceled at the host’s request, they will assist in finding a comparable alternative and provide a credit for a portion of the price difference if the new booking is more expensive. Approximately two weeks after the cancellation, I noticed the same property listed again on VRBO at a significantly higher price. I contacted the host to confirm availability and was told that the property had experienced another cancellation and was available again. I asked whether I could rebook the property at the originally confirmed rate, but the host stated that the owner would not approve that price. To ensure eligibility for Booking.com’s credit policy, I requested that the property be relisted on Booking.com, which the host agreed to do. I then rebooked the property at a rate of $4,680, which is $1,431 higher than my original price. Based on the sequence of events, I believe the cancellation was not due to a genuine double booking, but rather because the owner was dissatisfied with the original price, which may have been listed in error. It appears the reservation was canceled in order to relist the property at a higher rate. I believe this constitutes an unfair and misleading practice by the property owner. This assessment does not reflect negatively on the hosts, who were professional and hospitable throughout the process.

The water wasn't the best for swimming but we found a spot that we could go in and swim and do a little snorkeling
